Moneen are another of those bands with song titles of epic proportions, however don’t get the wrong impression and think that this band take themselves far too seriously, and thus not worthy of your time as quite frankly; they are. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I received this single, however the band seem good at what they do, which seems to me to be of the Emo/Rock variety. In this day and age, ‘Emo’ is a derogatory term which often when mentioned discredits a band as no one wants to be seen as an ‘Emo’ band – it’s more an insult than a reflection of genre, however Moneen do what they do well, so don’t be put off by the ‘Emo’ moniker – take this as an opportunity that not all ‘Emo’ bands are image focussed and anally retentive as this is certainly not something which Moneen are guilty of as a band.
This single has been a good introduction to the band for me, with strong guitars and soaring vocals throughout which make this a strong track from a band that obviously have a successful future ahead of them. From the press release it seems like Moneen are a hard working band that are always out there touring the globe to spread the word, clearly it seems gaining themselves new fans everywhere they go. With the popularity of this brand of Emo/Rock seemingly on the increase, Moneen are a band that if they stick at what they do best then they should go far as a band, 2006 may well be their year to shine. This will only be available as a download single, however if you own iTunes or another such download programme, then I strongly urge you to support the band and download this one on August 13th.
