Boy Kill Boy have had a great year – they’ve sold out a number of shows and even have a few hit singles under their belts, however now the band are focusing on their more charitable side and are showing their support to War Child by donating to them a proportion of royalties from latest single ‘Shoot Me Down’. The problem here is that the single is unlikely to sell many copies due to the fact that it’s extremely bland and plods along without ever getting particularly interesting. I know there are a lot of people that would say this is true of all of their tracks, however in my opinion the band have released some great tracks this year – ‘Suzie’ for instance was highly catchy and became an anthemic rock club soundtrack as a result, a track that had a highly singable chorus and thus when it was played had a whole room singing and dancing along to it. The same can not be said about ‘Shoot Me Down’ in the slightest, in fact if anything it will just be a severe knock to their credibility as one of the most exciting Indie bands of 2006. The band seem to be severely running out of steam which leads me to believe that their debut ‘Civilian’ may be both the first and last time we hear of them.
