Bringing PC style gaming to the living room, Valve is to release a variety of Steam gaming machines in 2014, all running a new gaming operating system known as SteamOS.
According to the information provided by Valve, there will be multiple SteamOS machines to choose from, made by different manufacturers, and 300 beta participants will be chosen at random to test out SteamOS, taking advantage of a high-performance prototype in order to test out the system prior to its full release and provide important user feedback on how the system is functioning.
Whilst the system will be able to be controlled via mouse and keyboard input, it has also been optimised to work well with gamepads, allowing users the creative freedom to choose between typical console gameplay and more conventional PC gaming methods.
Full information is provided on the website about how to make yourself eligible to become a SteamOS beta tester.
