A look at EA’s new subscription service EA Access and whether or not it represents good value for money for gamers when considering what is currently being offered for those that subscribe and the potential of the service for the future.
EA Access’s value to the consumer is currently an area for debate since Sony actually rejected the proposal to have the service on PS4, claiming that the current subscription service from EA would not represent good value for PlayStation gamers.
As it stands, EA Access will cost £19.99/$29.99 for an annual subscription, or will also be available at a monthly cost of £3.99/$4.99. Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Peggle 2 are the four games currently included for digital download as a part of the subscription cost, with additional perks including 10% discount on EA digital purchases on Xbox One as well as 5 days early access to titles such as Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA LIVE 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
If EA Access is a success on the Xbox One then it remains to be seen whether or not Sony will backtrack on their stance and allow for this service to be opened up for PlayStation gamers.
