After rebranding from Pro Evolution Soccer to eFootball, there are concerns in the PES community right now that after more than two decades of releasing football focused console video games, Konami could now be looking to prioritise the mobile gaming space moving forward.
Series producer Seitaro Kimura insists that “We’re still making games on consoles first. We then take that exact same experience and make it available for mobile devices”, however all of the visual evidence that we’ve seen so far has hinted at a lower quality graphical experience than had been expected from the next-gen consoles, and with Konami’s New Football Game build there were a number of features that had seemingly been removed from the game, suggesting a watered down gameplay experience for this years title.
Is there genuine cause for concern here that Konami could be serving a mobile quality game across all platforms, or will it ultimately hold true that the company has made efforts to tailor the visual quality of the game to the hardware of each device?
Speculation will no doubt continue to mount over the course of the coming weeks, with Konami not set to provide more details about their plans and intentions with eFootball until late August.
