After it was announced earlier in the year that Canuck Play, the company behind Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, had ceased operations, it seemed as though the Maximum Football series would sadly be no more.
It has now been revealed that Modus Games has officially acquired the Maximum Football series, however, with a new game already in development and said to be returning soon.
The next game in the series is being developed by Gamecan and FUN Labs, with the promise of a completely rebuilt gaming experience featuring fresh graphics and visuals, all new character models and stadiums, and improved on-field gameplay.
Christina Seelye, CEO of Modus Games, had the following to say about their plans for the future of Maximum Football:
“We are looking forward to taking an already dynamic sports game and putting our stamp on it… We’re working to build on the strong foundation and feature set of previous Maximum Football games, while adding community requested features and mechanics to build the ultimate football sandbox experience.”
No official release date for the next Maximum Football game has yet been confirmed.
